May 31

May 31 – Had to get up around 7am so we could leave to make our drop. My trainer was driving and almost got hit this morning in an industrial area. He was sitting at a stop sign when another truck turned the corner and almost took our front end off. Herb honked at him and slammed it into reverse real quick. Looks like we are headed to Kansas City then on to St. Paul, MN from here. We should be leaving here around 5 or 6 this afternoon.

May 30 – Got to Laredo, TX right at midnight. This is a waiting game now because we aren’t scheduled to unload until Tuesday morning and today is Monday. Our drop yard here had a building with bathrooms, showers, laundry (free), a couple of sofas and a big TV. It was crowded because the temperature was 113° so everyone was inside staying cool. I just stayed in the truck most of the day and played on the internet. Around 4pm my trainer took us to a Chinese buffet and it was really good. Even better with him paying for it!

May 28 - Drove from McAllister , OK to just north of San Antonio. Not much happened so not much to say.

May 27

May 27 – We finally got loaded and are leaving for Laredo, TX. We drove through IA, NE, MO and OK until we got to a little truckstop in McAllister, OK for the night.

I enjoyed a lot of the scenery IA. Lots of farmland with beautiful 2 story farm houses and lush green grass. Nice!

I drove 152 miles today.

May 26 – We had another driver drop off his trailer with us because he couldn’t make his delivery time so we took his load to Cedar Falls, IA. From there we drove about 15 miles tour pickup location and were told they haven’t started loading our trailer yet. This was about 1pm. We sat there and were just about to leave around 8:00pm to go to the truckstop for dinner when we saw the Chinese food delivery guy dropping off dinner to some workers there. We grabbed a menu and had him bring us out some dinner so we just stayed there overnight. This was a boring day as we just sat all day!

I didn’t drive any miles today.

May 25

May 25 - Left Moapa and drove through Utah. This is where I got my training on using the Jake brake going down mountains. Utah is some pretty country! Still some snow capped mountains and just nice scenery. Sometime during the day decided that we couldn’t make our drop at the scheduled time so we were told to go to Cheyenne, WY and meet another truck. We got our trailers swapped then stayed the night in Cheyenne.

I drove 543 miles today.
